Vagner Rocha “Recovery” Documentary Trailer
Vagner Rocha, was born in Brazil and raised in Florida. At the age of 16 Vagner started Martial Arts. He Developed great talent right away and quickly became very skilled in the beautiful art of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. After Years of hard work and dedication he became the top Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu competitor, Athlete and professional mixed martial artist and the owner and Master Instructor for the Vagner Rocha Martial Arts Center in Pembroke Pines, Florida.
Vagner Rocha demonstrated his grappling ability by becoming one of the best competitors to come out of Florida, winning the International Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Federation’s (IBJJF) Pan American in 2007, placing 3rd in the World Jiu-Jitsu Championship, and being a six-time NAGA Advance Champion. In 2007, he was awarded his black belt under Pablo Popovitch and completed his certified instructor training. On 2009, Rocha began his professional MMA career fighting in events such as Bellator, defeating Igor Gracie and in the Strikeforce. On 2010,he won the ADCC North American Trial. On 2011, Vagner made his UFC debut against top contender Donald Cerrone. In his second UFC bout Rocha defeated Ultimate Fighter alumni Cody McKenzie by submission due to a rear naked choke.On the same year, Rocha won the Abu Dhabi World Pro trials. Also, medalist on his weight and absolute division at the Abu Dhabi Professional Championship.
On the beginning of 2012, he had another UFC bout against Jonathan Brookins. End of 2012, he fought at the Fight Time Promotions winning the ISKA Title Belt and became the Lightweight Champion of the event. Vagner Rocha remained the Lightweight Champion by Defending his title three times against Randy Barroso, Mike Bruno, and JP Reese. VRMA Head Instructor has a numerous amount of accomplishments as a competitor that only few in the world can compare too. He has competed in the top prestigious events that exist.
At the height of his Career, In November of 2013 Vagner Rocha suffered a terrible break during his intense Jiujitsu rolls. Cinematographer Andres Gonzalez had the opportunity to follow the Fight Time Light weight Champion during his recovery.
