MARTIAL ARTS CLASSES FOR KIDS & TEENAGERS
“Amazing South Florida Kids Martial Arts Class Not Only Teaches Kids Self-Defense … But Gives Them The Tools They Need For Success In Life…”
From focusing, to goal setting, to self-discipline, to self-respect – kids emerge from this program changed for the better. And their parents couldn’t be happier.
Vagner Rocha Martial Arts has classes specifically designed for children and teens from 4-15 years old. Our martial arts classes are separated by age and experience. Classes include traditional Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and realistic self-defense techniques that teach stand up and ground techniques, submissions, reversals, restraint and escapes. We use structured drills to refine motor skills and to allow children to progress throughout our martial arts program.
The Vagner Rocha Martial Arts school is filled with high energy, fun classes designed to keep our students engaged and motivated. Parents watch, first hand, their children to develop fitness, athletic abilities and self defense skills over the course of their martial arts training.
Every parent wants to instill their child with confidence to handle peer pressure in a positive way, knowing how to react correctly in those situations when they occur. Bullies are more likely to pick on kids with less confidence. Confidence comes from practice and experience.
The positive and rewarding experience provided through Brazilian Jiu Jitsu training, systematically builds confidence in kids of all ages. Our Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Program teaches students how to become role models among their friends, promoting the practice of leadership and exercising the proper life skills to their full potential! Confidence, teamwork and public speaking are just some of the leadership and life skills we teach and practice.
Our students will learn that they will be rewarded for the effort they put into tasks and, during the process, learn how to emotionally handle situations that don’t go as planned.
Improve Physical Fitness and Condition
Our kids martial arts classes are filled with drills to build stamina, strength and speed. They assist students to improve their coordination, balance and endurance, which in turn will give them an edge in other sports and activities, besides BJJ.
Our curriculum includes grappling training classes to teach and show all students a realistic approach towards self-defense. Brazilian Jiu Jitsu is a grappling-based martial art like no other. Its focus is on the skill of controlling a resisting opponent in ways that force him to submit.
Vagner Rocha Martial Arts’ instructors always make sure that every student is learning the technique properly, correcting and improving their technique according to their progress. We only want to see our students improve and excel and that’s why we give our students the special attention they deserve. Our qualified instructors use a sensitive approach to the issues that children in general face in today’s society, teaching them safety and awareness.

“Excellent demeanor, patience and teaching levels from all the instructors”
“Brought my son in to try a free month, needless to say it wasn’t necessary. I signed up immediately. 2 year ago. To date my 7 year old son is now ranked first in the state of Florida, 1st in the region and in the top ten at a national level ranked amongst 13 year olds. Excellent demeanor, patience and teaching levels from all the instructors. The Head instructor and owner of the school “Vagner Rocha” teaches the classes personally. He recognizes the children’s strengths and weaknesses and pairs up the kids to ensure that each child excels in their own training. Not many schools offer a UFC Fighter a couple of feet away from your child and giving them directions personally. Yes South Florida has many good schools but few schools have the concentration of skilled tested (via Tournaments) “fighters” . You want to be the best , Train with the Best.”
“Vagner & his instructors treats my children as if they were their own”
“If you’re looking for a place to get in shape, become healthier, learn a great form of self defense, push yourself, and make life time friends then you need to be training at VRMA. I found them by shear coincidence after being ready to give up on finding a place to train. I have only been training for a year, and it has changed my life. When I first started I was 257, out of shape and over weight. I was going to doctors for just about everything from my knees to my back, to hips and ankles. Vagner and his staff of instructors provided me the tools, encouragement and commitment for me to get back into shape, becoming stronger than I was while serving as a U.S. Marine. My son’s who both have developmental delays and issues of confidence and aggression also train at VRMA and it became something that was gonna be bonding time for me and my boys to something that increased their focus, confidence and work ethic by leaps and bounds. The difference between my boys before training with Vagner and his staff is night and day. I am very over protective of my children, but Vagner and his instructors treats my children as if they were their own I can go on about life knowing that they are being trained by one of the best in BJJ today. The instructors and students at VRMA are bar none the best I have come across in a very long time. They have become more than just Instructors and training partners but treat us like family. As my son tells his friends, if you are not training at Vagner Rocha Martial Arts, you are not training.”

“My son is also learning about hard work, commitment, dedication and being a part of a team”
“I live in Plantation and drive to Pembroke Pines three to four nights a week for my 13 year old son to train with Vagner at VRMA. There are a lot of places where he could train that much closer to our home, but I have found that Vagner and all the guys there push him to do his best and do it with respect. He is not only learning BJJ from one of the best practitioners in the state (and he’s learning well I will say – he has the medals and swords to prove it!) he is also learning about hard work, commitment, dedication and being a part of a team. The all around confidence my son has gained in the past year is well worth the drive and I would highly recommend Vagner and VRMA to anyone!”

“My son is in great shape and now he’s making better choices all on his own”
“This is what hard work, dedication and never giving up looks like. Since my son started at Vagner Rocha Martial Arts there has been a huge change as you can see. He also started eating more fruits and veggies instead of a ton of junk. He still has treats when he wants but is making better choices all on his own. Words can’t express how proud we are of him and how thankful we are to have found such an amazing school.”

Frequently Asked Questions:
“Will martial arts make my kid violent?”
Absolutely not! We don’t teach kids how to kick and punch so they can go down the street and beat up the neighbor’s kid. Instead, we teach kids self-defense as a tool for personal growth and development. Kids learn to treat others as they want to be treated. They learn to respect all living things – from their parents to pets. Often, kids who were violent before they joined our class changed, and became non-violent. So no, martial arts won’t make your child violent!
“What if my child’s not athletic? Will he have a hard time?”
Often children who don’t find success in team sports come to martial arts. And they love it.That’s because with martial arts you go at your own pace. See, team sports actually harm the self-esteem of children who aren’t very athletic. When they don’t perform well, the other kids can be pretty nasty. And this can leave some serious scars on their self-esteem.But with martial arts, they can’t let anyone down. Everyone goes at their own pace. Some kids learn quicker than others – but the children who advance quickly are not valued more than the kids who advance slowly. Everyone is encouraged regardless of his or her athletic level.
“What age is appropriate for martial arts?”
We have programs for kids who are 4 years old all the way to teenagers. And we even have programs for adults. So to be honest – every age is appropriate. No child is too young or too old. We have a class that fits just right.
“Will my child get hurt?”
I’ve had children come to my program for years without ever obtaining a single injury. This is actually the case with most children. Have children gotten injured in my martial arts class? Yes, some have. But the injuries were no different than those which kids who play baseball and other sports get. Our instructors pay attention to detail when it comes to safety. From padded floors to step-by- step instruction – we do everything in our power to insure your child’s safety. I can’t guarantee your child won’t be injured – but I can tell you that almost no children receive injuries in my program. And that’s because we take your child’s safety very seriously.
“Is martial arts just for boys? Or can girls take martial arts too?”
If I’ve learned anything in my years of teaching, its that girls are just as tough as boys. Many are even tougher! So you don’t have to worry about your little girl getting hurt, or feeling scared because she’ll be practicing with boys. In fact, the boys may even be the ones who are scared.
