Training and competition Benefits at Vagner Rocha Martial Arts

On February 23th, Vagner Rocha Martial Arts hosted our IV In-house Tournament for all of our kids to test their will power and also to challenge themselves physically and mentally . Some of our students have competed in high level tournaments while some are just beginning their journey. It all begins with hard work and dedication, practicing and drilling movements till every submission and defense  becomes second nature. We can’t forget breaking bad habits is always a challenge, but easily destroyed with persistence. You must first analyze your mistakes in order to better yourself. The best way to do this is by competing and learning from your mistakes.  Brazilian Jiu Jitsu can be greatly beneficial for kids in many different ways. For one thing, Jiu Jitsu teachs kids the value of competition. Many positive outcomes stem from the lessons gained through competition in sports.  While a highly competitive environment can create overly competitive kids, there are actually many benefits associated with a competitive personality.

VRMA In House Tournament

Kids becoming competitive at a young age can lead to more success in school and in other aspects of life. The concept of competition taught in Jiu Jitsu is based on  a smaller, weaker person that can successfully defend against a bigger, stronger opponent by using leverage and proper technique. One should always try their hardest to outperform the opponent, or, in other words, try to do better than everyone else. For many kids, this mindset crosses over to the classroom,  where the kids who participate in competitive sports like Brazilian Jiu Jitsu have a drive to succeed that is stronger than those who don’t play sports. It is no coincidence, then, that studies have shown that athletes have higher grades than non–athletes, lower numbers of absences, and higher graduation rates.

Exposure to a very competitive athletic environment will help kids learn how to cope with and succeed under pressure later in their lives. Even though this pressure may put stress on both the kids and their parents in the short term, the experience gained through these situations is invaluable to children in the long term.

VRMA Family

Another huge reason younger kids should train Brazilian Jiu Jitsu is that many friendships and bonds are formed through this beautiful martial art. Kids get to interact with other kids who share similar interests. Also, families sharing the same interests get to know other families. The time spent together participating in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu allows kids to make friends, and really is there anything better for a child than making friends in a family environment? The social aspect of Brazilian Jiu Jitsu is one reason why they are so beneficial to the children who engage in them.  Here, at the Vagner Rocha Martial Arts Academy we guarantee the improvements in all aspect of a child. Just ask any of our VRMA parents how their kids are doing at home, at sports and at school, then you will watch how proud they talk about their loved ones and how much they have being amazed  with their improvements!
